Workshops

- The workshop "Plant Growth Biology and Modeling" was held in Elche, Spain (September 19-21, 2011) http://pgbm2011.umh.es/

This was the second PGBM meeting focusing on the latest advances in the biology, modeling and automated phenotyping of leaf and root development. Workshop abstract book.

- Workshop "Integrative analysis of molecular profiling data" ICAR 2011 Madison, Wisconsin Thursday, July 23: 7:30 - 9:00 pm (details)

- The workshop "Plant Growth Biology and Modeling" was held in Elche, Spain (October 14-16, 2009).

This meeting focused on the latest discoveries in leaf and root development and advances in modeling and automated phenotyping. Abstract book

- The workshop "Ontologies, Standards and Best Practice" was held in Gent (May 21-23, 2007).

This workshop was organized to raise awareness about the need of adopting specific biomedical ontologies and data standards among biologists, and to stimulate discussions about the issues connected with the use of these classification and standard systems in plant research. The program consisted of four seminar sessions with international speakers of different scientific background, and four practical training sessions designed to provide hands-on experience on software for viewing and editing biological ontologies, recording plant phenotypes using a controlled vocabulary, and for building data acquisition pipelines through web-services.  Workshop report

- The workshop "Imaging and Phenotyping in Plants" was held in Montpellier, France (July 17-19, 2007).

High-throughput phenotyping for complex integrated traits such as growth involves methodological and technical choices which determine the quality of the phenotyping process. Many groups have developed tools, techniques and frameworks to analyse growth in a quantitative and reproducible way. The aim of these 3 workshop was to share expertise in this domain. Four topics were covered during the three days with a combination of lectures, posters, visits of HTP phenotyping platforms and practical sessions. The 4 topics were: I- Leaf Growth Phenotyping. II- Root Growth Phenotyping. III- Imaging Growth in Plants. IV- Plant Growth Modelling. Workshop abstract book

Practical session exercises spreadsheets about plant growth analysis, calculation of Relative Growth Rate (RGR), and leaf area analysis as dependent on cell expansion and cell division, are available for download.
